RUNGE NATURAL AREA
JEFFERSON CITY, MISSOURI

Dennis joined Kris in the last few weeks of her long project assignment in Jefferson City. this was early October and still warm enough to do a bit of bird watching and so Dennis indulged. Just on the edge of the city limits is a large area set aside as a nature center complete with trails (all paved) and an interpretive center. For Dennis it was the beginning of a trip back in time because the feel of the forest and the composition of the bird community took him right back to his Ohio roots. Since it was October, there was not a lot to see but we enjoyed what was there.

This "bird" is also known as a Grey Squirrel

This is typical of the trails that have constructed in the area. There is a clear concern for use by anyone.

At the edge of area is this fire watch tower. Someone has a Halloween sense of humor.
