SALEM, MASSACHUSETTS
OCTOBER TOUR WITH MARGE

Dennis drove from Jefferson City, MO to Woonsocket, RI to join Kris at her next job assignment. He got there a day too early to check into the hotel so he spent that Saturday night and the next day in Marblehead with Dennis' cousin Marge and her husband Ed. They took a walking tour of Salem which gets to be fairly interesting and strange as Halloween draws closer. Kris and Dennis went back there with Marge and Ed a few weeks later and both trips are posted on this page. A note regarding things in Salem: the official name given to witchcraft is "Wicca" and this is taken as a serious religion in Salem to the extent that the wicken leaders are invited to ecumenical events. Click here for more information about the wicca religion.

Downtown Salem becomes a huge Halloween Open House and Craft Show. There are several streets full of small shops which all try to reset in a Halloween mode. As can be seen some of the people who visit even show up in costume.

This black store is owned and operated by Lori. Lori is the local head witch (seriously).

There is a neat restaurant in Salem which is an excellent place to eat. They have this item on their menu.

One store had this wonderful display of haunted village model parts for sale. Remind you of a movie?
