THE LION PAGE
There are too many lion photos to put on the same page as the game drives when they were taken. So, if you like lions, you want to stop here for a while.

These are from the second Mara Game Drive and pictures of a young male lion. Soon he will challenge the adult of his pride and may well drive the old boy out. If he does, he will rule for only a few years and then it will happen to him.

            

These are THE lion pictures. They are from our first Mara game drive with our guides after they had driven six hours to join us as we flew to the Masai Mara. They are presented in the order in which they were taken. Simply put, we found a sleeping male (a common activity for male lions) and then, as we watched him we turned around and saw a female approaching from the far side of the drainage cut that we had parked next to. She crossed the cut and we found that she was followed by three two-month old cubs! I don't know how long we sat there and watched them but it was a long time.
