THE MASAI MARA GAME PRESERVE

Save the best for last and always leave 'em wanting more. Well, if PT Barnum didn't say that, then his oldest cousin twice removed might have. But it certainly applies here. The Mara is simply awesome. It is huge at 583 square miles and is the most amazing grassland you could ever see. It is also on the North edge of the Serengeti Plain and the annual migration of the herds was under way.
Getting there: We flew from Samburu to Masai Mara. It was an hour flight and no movie was offered. The view oout the window was much better anyway.
The Intrepids Tented Camp: is where we camped and it was great. Though not as lavish as the Samburu Serena, it had charm.
The Balloon Ride: was a great time even if we did need to leave camp at 5:00AM.
Cocktail Party: on the last night at Intrepids? Of course!
Masai Village: We went to visit a traditional Masai Village and learned how different it can be.
The Game Drives: are the heart and soul of the time at Mara and we enjoyed seven of them.
