SEA WORLD

Having survived the Tuesday shuttle ride to Disney we risked the Wednesday ride to Sea World. We enjoyed Sea World as much as the Disney parks and spent the entire day there. Again, we didn't deal with the rides but we saw all the animal exhibits and went to two shows. Anyone who goes to the Shamu Show has got to be impressed with the sheer power of those whales. Not only did we see fish, porpoises, whales and seals, but we saw the Budweiser Clydsdales. And that must be the ultimate tribute to the power of sponsorship in America. Sea World seemed to be pretty laid-back and we enjoyed the day there.

Like any park, we spent a lot of time walking around and exploring.

We found ourselves spending some time at the huge porpoise and seal pond which gets to real noisy when the people come to feed to seals. It puts barking dogs into a whole new perspective.

We went to see the Seal and Otter Show which featured a real ham of a seal. The "plot" dealt with a girl was alone on an island and a pirate who was looking for treasure. When he asked her why she was wearing the color shirt she had on she told him that she was marooned. Ah, look at the pictures.

The last show we saw was a porpoise show complete with human high-wire acrobats..

One exhibit which is a lot of fun is the penguin place. We were moved along a walkway in front of huge glassed-South Pole habitat with penguins and related Antarctic birds. Uh - one of likes to watch birds as much as one of us likes to shop.

Of all the attractions at Sea World, none can compare to the Shamu Show. It so happens that they putting together a new show and have invited the public to the rehearsals so we had something of a preview. As it worked out, this was the first time they had run through the entire show without stopping so we got a real treat. It is not to be missed.
